your content is yours

There is a lot of controversy around the usage of shared social photos and videos and all the different platforms at the moment.

Our views have always been pretty clear on this and we’ve just added the paragraph below to our ToS to further clarify our policy:

Content Ownership
All rights of uploaded content by our users remain the property of our users and can in no means be sold or used by Mobypicture or affiliated third party partners without consent from the user.

This means Mobypicture will NEVER sell the rights to your shared photos and videos. Your content is yours!
(we’re actually the only service which doesn’t even show advertising next to your shared adventures, see the rest of our USP’s here – http://bit.ly/whymoby)

Creative Commons
For MobyNext (our soon to be released new Mobypicture platform) we’ve implemented the Creative Commons Licenses. This will help our users manage the rights even better.

Media Portability
We’ve also secretly ;) been developing a service called Mediaportability.com. This service allows you to move all your content from and to the most important social sites automatically. You can also use the service to move your Mobypicture postings to any other site or download these to your computer or iPad.

If you’re interested in mediaportability.com sign up for your beta invite here!

Update for developers and other interested (20th of April)

We’ve added an API call to get the ToS. This enables app developers to present their users to the Terms of Service of the sharing service they have selected (or was preselected). This gives the users more insights into what to expect. We advise all sharing services to add this call to make things more transparent!
